ASTRAGALUS (Membranaceus)

Astragalus is known for its supporting of T-cell function and overall immune strength at a very deep level (bone marrow reserves) and is highly acclaimed as probably the most important all deep immune tonics. It is known to increase strength, and vitality. Astragalus helps in the elimination of toxins thus promoting the healing of damaged tissue. It supports liver and spleen function and in supporting the liver protects it against chemical damage caused by chemotherapy and also helps to normalize blood pressure. When added to the program, Astragalus actually doubled the lives of cancer patients who opted to be treated by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It combats fatigue by nourishing exhausted adrenals. Astragalus is an adaptiogen herb which has been credited with long life of the cells of the body that attack the invaders that cause disease in the body. The T-cells are also called "killer cells" because of their ability to destroy foreign invaders in the body. It seems to protect the healthy cells even when chemotherapy is used. Urine flow is improved by Astragalus by reducing the potential of infection predominantly in the bladder.
Astragalus is an anti-clotting agent and has vaso-dilating properties, helping prevent coronary heart disease and improving circulation. Astragalus has demonstrated to increase energy by the reduction of toxicity in the liver. As such, it acts as a heart tonic, which lowers blood pressure, dilates blood vessels and increases endurance to fatigued hearts.

ELDERBERRY (Sambucus Nigra)

Israeli researchers have developed five formulas based on Elderberry fruit that have been clinically proven to prevent and ameliorate all kinds of influenza. Elderberry's claim to fame is as a cure for the flu. Extensive research show that Elderberry stops the production of hormone-like cytokines that direct a class of white blood cells known as neutrophils to cause inflammation, especially in influenza and arthritis. On the other hand, Elderberry increases the production of non-inflammatory infection-fighting cytokines as much as 10 fold. Dr. Madeleine Mumcuoglu, of Hadassah-Hebrew University in Israel found that Elderberry disarms the enzyme viruses used to penetrate infection, it prevents infection. Taken after infection, it prevents spread of the virus through the respiratory tract. In a clinical trial, 20% of study subjects reported significant improvement within 24 hours, 70% by 48 hours, and 90% claimed complete cure in three days. In contrast, subjects receiving the placebo required 6 days to recover.
